Military calling up discharged soldiers - what about the gay ones?
They're calling up soldiers who were discharged. I don't know anyone who's currently in Iraq or Afghanistan (as far as I know) but I do have one friend who was in the military a few years ago and is now at risk of being called back up- and he strongly opposes the war now that he's a civilian again.

Another old roommate of mine was in the army, and I wonder if they call her up what her girlfriend will think of it- and more importantly what they'll think of her girlfriend. Which makes me wonder- once you've been honorably discharged, if you become gay and they call you back up - what happens? Obviously they won't take you because bigotry is still more important than security to the current administration. But can they mess with your discharge status?

I was on national radio today- I called in to the Randi Rhodes show on Air America. I brought up the issue of former military folks who become gay when they are civilians again, but then are called up in the IRR draft.

Here's the clip [4m 41sec], or you can get the archive of the whole show at randirhodesarchives.com . I download the archives to my Karma to listen to on my commute since Air America isn't on the radio in Pittsburgh yet.

I was very nervous, that's such a strange feeling. I like being nervous though as long as it's not because something really bad is about to happen- exhilaration might be a better word for it.
